Alaska Psychiatric Institute
The Alaska Psychiatric Institute is the state's only state-run psychiatric hospital, operated by the Department of Family and Community Services in Anchorage. It stabilises people in psychiatric emergencies from anywhere in the state and works on continuity of care back to the community. Because it is the only such hospital in Alaska, people in psychiatric crisis in rural communities are flown to Anchorage for admission.
