Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education
The Governor's Council is a federally mandated council that carries several roles at once in Alaska: it is the state's Developmental Disabilities Council, it advises on special education, and it serves as the interagency coordinating body for early intervention. It advocates for inclusive services, runs planning and policy work on employment, early intervention, education, health, housing, emergency preparedness and community participation, and it exists to put people with disabilities and their families into the rooms where decisions get made.
