Alaska Commission on Aging
The Alaska Commission on Aging is a governor-appointed advisory board inside the Department of Health that plans and advocates for older Alaskans. It produces the four-year State Plan for Senior Services, coordinates across state agencies, runs an annual Statewide Summit on Aging, and works on employment, fall prevention and elder abuse. It matters to the disability system because many Alaskans on the Alaskans Living Independently waiver and in personal care are older adults, and because aging family caregivers are the backbone of Alaska's developmental disability system.
