Alaska Department of Health, Division of Senior and Disabilities Services
Senior and Disabilities Services (SDS) is Alaska's state developmental disabilities authority and its aging authority in one division of the Department of Health. It determines developmental disability eligibility, operates the state's five Medicaid home and community-based waivers, certifies and recertifies waiver and personal care agencies, runs the assessment unit that decides level of care, administers the Infant Learning Program, and funds a network of community-based grants including the Aging and Disability Resource Centers and the Developmental Disabilities Resource Connection. For a family in Alaska, SDS is the front door to every publicly funded disability service.
