City of Auburn Parks and Recreation Therapeutics and Special Olympics Lee County
Auburn Parks and Recreation runs the therapeutic programs for people with disabilities in Auburn and sponsors the Special Olympics Lee County teams in basketball, bowling, golf, volleyball, swimming and track and field, with volunteer coaches and year-round practices. The Lee County program supports more than 300 athletes and draws from roughly a fifty mile radius, so it reaches well beyond the city. The department also runs therapeutics summer camps. It is based at the Dean Road Recreation Center and is coordinated by a dedicated Therapeutic Programs Coordinator.
