City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Therapeutics Program
The City of Mobile's Parks and Recreation Department runs a therapeutics program with a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist on staff who also serves as the department's ADA liaison. It offers both inclusion services, which provide accommodations so people with disabilities can join existing city programs, and separate therapeutic recreation programs designed around participants' physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs. Four community centers across the city are designated therapeutic centers. Accommodation requests for mainstream programs must be made at least two weeks before a program starts.
