Feeding the Gulf Coast
Feeding the Gulf Coast is the regional food bank for 24 counties across south Alabama, south Mississippi and the Florida panhandle, working through a network of partner pantries and agencies from its main branch in Theodore, south Mobile County. Its programs include food distribution, a mobile market, child nutrition programs, food rescue, community health and nutrition work, disaster response and a benefits outreach program that helps households apply for SNAP. It has no program designed specifically for people with disabilities, but its benefits outreach and pantry network are the practical food safety net households living on SSI rely on in this region.
