Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, Vocational Rehabilitation Service
VRS is Alabama's state vocational rehabilitation program. It helps people with disabilities prepare for, obtain and keep employment through counseling, training, assistive technology, job placement and supported employment. It also runs pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities still in school, the Business Enterprise Program for vendors who are blind, and a specialist Blind and Deaf Service line. VRS operates twenty field offices across Alabama plus a statewide office at Lakeshore in Birmingham.
