Community Outreach Program for the Deaf (COPD)
COPD was established in Tucson in 1973 as a place where Deaf people and people with hearing loss could go and where communication was easy, and it remains southern Arizona's main Deaf services organization. It provides free case management, community support and social programming, and runs the Tucson Deaf Community Center for gatherings and classes. Most staff are bilingual in English and American Sign Language. It now operates as a service of Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona.
