Northern Valley Catholic Social Service
NVCSS is the principal faith-based social service agency of the far north, running programs across Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties from a regional office in Redding. Its work includes mental health counseling and therapy, a non-crisis talkline, wellness centers, services for families and new parents, healthy living and nutrition programs, CalFresh application assistance, meals for school children, and disaster response, recovery and emergency preparedness. It does not run developmental disability services, but in six counties with almost no community mental health infrastructure it is the main non-governmental provider.
