Plumas Rural Services
Plumas Rural Services is a multi-service rural agency covering Lassen, Modoc, Plumas and Sierra counties, four of the most remote counties in California. Its disability work includes ALIVE, a program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, support for parents and guardians of children and young adults with any disability, and respite care for caregivers of older people and people with developmental and physical disabilities. It also runs WIC, child care resource and referral, domestic violence counseling and the Plumas-Sierra crisis line. For these four counties it is close to the only community organization of any kind in the field.
