Becoming Independent has supported adults with developmental disabilities in Sonoma County and the North Bay since 1967, from a headquarters on Corporate Center Parkway in Santa Rosa. It works across three areas: education, with tailored learning based on individual goals; employment, through two distinct programs; and living services supporting independence in people's own homes. It also runs a secure document shredding social enterprise. It was ranked 17th on the NonProfit Times 2026 Best Nonprofits To Work For list.
