Connecticut Department of Developmental Services

Confirmed Profile

DDS is the state agency for Connecticut residents with intellectual disability, and for adults with autism spectrum disorder who do not have intellectual disability. It determines eligibility, assigns case managers, administers the state's three home and community based Medicaid waivers, qualifies and monitors the private agencies that deliver almost all services, and operates Southbury Training School and a shrinking set of state-run group homes and day programs. DDS works through three regions, North, South and West, each with its own regional director and resource administrator. It publishes a Qualified Provider List, which is the practical starting point for a family choosing a provider.
