Connecticut Probate Courts
Connecticut's Probate Court system is where guardianship of an adult with intellectual disability and conservatorship of an adult with any other disabling condition are decided. The state uses a specific two track structure: guardianship of a person with intellectual disability under the Probate Court, and conservatorship of the person or estate for other adults. The courts also handle children's guardianship, special needs trusts and some commitment matters, and they publish plain language guides and forms for families.
