DC Center for Independent Living (DCCIL)
DCCIL is the District of Columbia's Center for Independent Living, founded in 1981 and run by and for people with disabilities. It provides the five core independent living services: information and referral, independent living skills training, peer counseling, individual and systems advocacy, and transition, including helping people move out of nursing homes and back into the community. It also runs a satellite presence at the Anacostia Library. It is a grassroots advocacy organization as much as a service provider.
