District of Columbia Department on Disability Services (DDS)
DDS is the District of Columbia's cabinet-level disability agency. It was created in 2007 out of the former Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Administration and is made up of two administrations: the Developmental Disabilities Administration, which runs the District's Medicaid waiver system for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and the Rehabilitation Services Administration, which is the District's vocational rehabilitation agency. DDS certifies and contracts every provider in the District's IDD system and publishes the provider listings the rest of this database's DC residential entries are drawn from. It is the single front door for adults seeking IDD services in the District.
