National Children's Center, Inc. (NCC)
NCC was founded in the District in 1958 and incorporated here in May of that year, and it is one of the largest non-governmental providers of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Washington region. It runs an Early Learning Center and Early Intervention Center in Southeast DC serving children with and without disabilities, community residences with a range of support levels, adult day services, work readiness and supported employment, and physical, occupational and speech therapy. Its corporate office is now in Silver Spring, Maryland, but its early childhood site and much of its residential work remain in the District.
