Sunland Training Center of Gainesville
The Gainesville Sunland was Florida's first institution for people with developmental disabilities. It opened in 1921 as The Florida Farm Colony, took the Sunland Training Center name in 1957, and was renamed Tacachale in 1990. It never closed. Families searching this name will find the same campus on Waldo Road still operating under APD.
