New Options Waiver Program (NOW)
The New Options Waiver Program is one of Georgia's two Medicaid home and community-based waivers for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NOW is the lower-cost of the pair and supports people who live in their own home or with family and need a smaller package of support: community access, community living supports, supported employment, prevocational services, respite, behavioral supports, specialized medical equipment and supplies, vehicle and home adaptations, transportation and support coordination. It does not fund 24-hour residential placement. To qualify a person must be Medicaid-eligible, have an intellectual disability diagnosed before age 18 or a closely related developmental condition diagnosed before age 22, and need an intermediate care facility level of support.
