Hawaii State Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Division
The Developmental Disabilities Division is Hawaii's state intellectual and developmental disabilities authority and the operating agency for the state's Medicaid 1915(c) home and community-based services waiver. DDD determines eligibility, assigns case managers, writes individualized service plans, sets the individual support budget, approves and monitors waiver provider agencies, and certifies the caregivers who run licensed and certified homes. It also runs two smaller state-funded programs, Long Term Adult Supports and Resources and the Family Support Services Program, for people who are not on the waiver. Every publicly funded I/DD service in Hawaii is reached through a DDD case manager.
