Olmstead Consumer Taskforce
The Olmstead Consumer Taskforce is a statewide advocacy group created by executive order after the 1999 Olmstead Supreme Court decision to monitor Iowa's progress on serving people with disabilities in the most integrated setting. Members include people with disabilities, family members, advocates and representatives of state agencies. It works on housing, employment, transportation, health care and other areas of community inclusion, and has been staffed by the University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development since Iowa's first Real Choices Systems Change grant in 2002.
