Woodward Resource Center

Confirmed Profile

Woodward Resource Center is Iowa's remaining state resource center, operated by Iowa HHS as an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with an Intellectual Disability. It serves about 100 people on campus and provides supported community living under the HCBS Intellectual Disability Waiver to about 40 adults in the Madrid, Ames, Boone, Waukee and Des Moines areas. Admission happens only when all reasonable community resources have been considered; most residents come because of complex behavioral needs, and some are court-referred for competency restoration. Discharge planning starts at admission. Woodward also runs I-TABS behavioral consultation and a Center of Excellence offering free clinical consultation and training to Medicaid-eligible Iowans and their providers statewide.
