Choate Developmental and Mental Health Center
Choate Developmental and Mental Health Center in Anna is the only Illinois State Operated Developmental Center that provides both developmental disability and mental health services. It serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, most of whom have a behavior intervention program and receive psychotropic medication. Its developmental disability population has been reduced sharply since 2023 as part of a state plan to transform the site following abuse and neglect investigations.
