Indiana Statewide Waiver Ombudsman
The statewide waiver ombudsman receives, investigates and tries to resolve complaints made by or on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who use Bureau of Disabilities Services home and community-based waiver services. The office is established by Indiana Code 12-11-13 and is independent of BDS: it is not funded by and does not report to anyone in the waiver program. Complaints may be anonymous and are reviewed within two to three business days. The ombudsman cannot give legal advice, act as a guardian, or handle complaints outside BDS home and community-based services.
