Ministry with Persons with Disabilities - Catholic Diocese of Wichita
The ministry says it exists to "help each parish keep all parishioners actively involved in parish life regardless of type, severity, or age of onset of a disability." It serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, blind or visually impaired people, deaf and hard of hearing people, and people with mental health conditions. Programs include Holy Family Camp (a summer camp for people with I/DD aged 14+), the Wichita Saints Special Olympics team, Totus Tuus for children with special needs aged 6-13 ($50 per child), Advent and Lenten retreats, a sign-language-interpreted Sunday Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Andover, the monthly *Ephphatha* newsletter for the deaf community, and the St. Francis of Assisi mental health support group.
