Missouri Senate Bill 40 county developmental disability boards
Missouri is unusual in funding developmental disability services partly through county property tax. Under what is universally called Senate Bill 40, counties may levy a tax and appoint a board to fund local services. The result is that what is available to a family can depend on whether their county passed a levy, and on how large it is.
